The football season may be underway but all eyes are
still on the transfer window - and what a window it
has been so far.
Neymar's £199million move to Paris Saint-Germain
sent shockwaves through football - but we're not
finished yet.
Barcelona look set to sign Liverpool's Philippe
Coutinho as the Brazilian's replacement, and are
readying a £100m offer.
That could force Jurgen Klopp to return with an offer
for RB Leipzig's Naby Keita to in turn replace
Coutinho.
Elsewhere, Kylian Mbappe remains of interest to Real
Madrid and Manchester City - and his exit could see
Gareth Bale return to the Premier League.
And don't forget Cristiano Ronaldo; the superstar has
admitted he wants to come back to England.
To keep up to speed, listen to the latest Mirror
Football podcast here, with Sam Matterface, Adrian
Kajumba and Mike Walters discussing the transfers
that could still happen.
And follow all the breaking news below...
Going, going gone?
One of this summer’s “will he, won’t he” debates has
centred around Gylfi Sigurdsson.
The Iceland midfielder has made it clear he wants to
leave Swansea, with Everton the frontrunners for his
signature.
The Welsh club are holding out for £50million, with
the Toffees yet to agree.
But Wales legend John Hartson believes Sigurdsson
will eventually leave.
“You try to hold onto him, you push the price up
hoping that he stays,” he told BBC Radio Wales.
“But I really can’t see it now, I think the boy is away, I
think it’s a matter of when... you’ve got to let the
player go.”

United to raid Barca?
Manchester United are expected to make at least one
more signing before the window closes next month.
And reports in Spain suggest it could be Barcelona
midfielder Andre Gomes.
Jose Mourinho has already added Nemanja Matic to
the centre of the field but is a long-time admirer of
the Barca man.
Gomes only joined the Catalan club last year but
could be available for around £30million.

Nice move for Sneijder
Wesley Sneijder has flown into Nice to complete his
move to the French side.
The Dutchman, 33, had been at Galatasaray but
terminated his contract with the Turkish side.
He will complete his medical tomorrow.
Sneider will link up with Mario Balottelli and should be
ready to play in Nice’s Champions League play-off
against Napoli on August 16.

Lens leaves Sunderland
Jeremain Lens has left Sunderland to join Besiktas.
The Dutchman joins the Turkish club after two years
on Wearside, where he made 24 appearances for the
Black Cats, netting four goals.
He said: “I’m so happy to go back to Turkey. Ler me
take a moment to say a big thank you to all of the
supporters at Fenerbahce and Sunderland.
Gareth Bale could be ready to return to the Premier
League as Real Madrid ramp up their interest in Kylian
Mbappe.
Despite enjoying a trophy-laden spell at the Bernabeu,
Bale has struggled with injury.
And he could be forced to look elsewhere if Mbappe
arrives from Monaco.
Ladbrokes make him odds-on to stay in Madrid,
however, but if he was to leave, Manchester United
are the favourites to sign him at 5/2.
PSG are a distant 20/1 and are unlikely to be involved
after signing Neymar for £199m.

Sandro no go
Chelsea’s interest in Juventus full-back Alex Sandro
looks set to end in failure.
The Stamford Bridge club have been chasing the left-
back all summer - but Juve are in no mood to sell.
Sandro is valued at £60million, but boss Massimiliano
Allegri said: “Alex Sandro is a Juventus player and he
will stay one.
When asked about a move to Chelsea, he adde: “No
chance.”

Liverpool dealt transfer blow
Liverpool have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of
Rennes midfielder Benjamin Andre.
The 27-year-old was a £15million target for the
Anfield club, despite signing a new five-year deal.
And he said: “There is a project here that everyone
knows.
“I was at one point in my career where I had to make
decisions, I had one year left.
“There were other options but [the fact] I am no
longer the youngster made me want to continue with
the Rennes.
“[I want] to go as high as possible.”

Vermaelen set for Prem return?
Remember Thomas Vermaelen?
The defender left Arsenal for Barcelona in 2014 but
has had a torrid time, playing just 21 times for the La
Liga giants.
He managed nine games while on loan at Roma last
season and could now make a return to the Premier
League.
Everton are among the clubs chasing the Belgian as
Ronald Koeman seeks a centre back partner for new
boy Michael Keane.
West Brom could rival the Toffees as we head into
the final weeks of the transfer window.

Chelsea v Man United for Bale?
Manchester United face competition from Chelsea for
Gareth Bale.
That’s according to the Sunday Express, who believe
the Blues have emerged as serious contenders.
Zinedine Zidane is reportedly willing to cash in on
Bale as he chases the signing of Monaco starlet
Kylian Mbappe.
Long-term doubts remain over Eden Hazard’s future
and the Welshman is now a taget.
Could he be lured back to England?

Arsenal face fight for midfielder
Arsenal will have to fight off Barcelona if they are to
sign target Jean-Michael Seri.
The Gunners have been chasing Seri, who has a £36m
release clause in his current contract, according to
Mundo Deportivo.
Arsene Wenger is a long term admirer of the Ivory
Coast international - with Tottenham and Swansea
also keeping tabs on him.
Barcelona, who have £198m sitting in the bank after
selling Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain last week, had
been keen on former Tottenham flop Paulinho before
cooling their interest.
And have instead turned their attention to 26-year-old
Seri, who helped Nice finish third in Ligue 1 last
season.

Coutinho heading for Liverpool exit?
Barcelona hope to complete the signing of Philippe
Coutinho this week.
The Spanish giants are armed with a £200million war
chest after selling Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain last
week.
And having long identified Liverpool midfielder
Coutinho as the Brazilian’s successor, Barcelona
expect to complete the £120m deal in the coming
days.
Reports in Spain claim representatives from the La
Liga side have travelled to England three times to
meet with Coutinho’s representatives.

Wenger warning to Sanchez
Arsene Wenger has warned contract rebel Alexis
Sanchez that he has the power of the Arsenal board
behind him.
Sanchez is refusing to sign a new Gunners deal and
has made it clear he wants to quit the Emirates.
But Wenger is prepared to play hardball and insists
that transfer policy is in his hands – and that there is
no pressure from the board to sell.
Wenger said: “Yes, the board back me to make the
decisions on the technical front. Is that comings and
goings? That is technical.”
The Gunners boss does not want to sell the 28-year-
old – especially to a Premier League rival – and is
determined to keep him at the Emirates this season,
even if it means allowing the £80million-rated
frontman go for free next summer.

Rush's advice to Bale
Ian Rush has told fellow Wales legend Gareth Bale to
ignore Manchester United’s overtures to bring the
Real Madrid star back to the Premier League.
United boss Jose Mourinho and the country’s other
title-chasing clubs have all been placed on red alert
over the 28-year-old forward.
The Champions League holders are moving in on a
£160million deal for Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe, and
Bernabeu sources indicate that Bale could be
sacrificed to help fund the astronomical deal.
Bale is due to face Manchester United in the UEFA
Super Cup on Tuesday night in Macedonia. But Rush
believes that is as close to United as Bale should go.
He said: “If he’s happy then Gareth should stay in
Spain, 100 per cent. He has improved as a player.
He’s got great players like Cristiano Ronaldo to keep
learning from. There are not many better clubs in the
world than Real Madrid.”

Bayern eye £50m Dier
Bayern Munich are eyeing a shock £50million move
for Eric Dier.
Carlo Ancelotti wants to add a new holding midfielder
following the retirements of Xabi Alonso and Philipp
Lahm.
Corentin Tolisso has arrived but Ancelotti has fears
over his side being too easy to get through.
United were keen on Dier but Bayern are ready to test
Spurs’ resolve, according to the Sun.

Why Silva joined City
Bernardo Silva has revealed how Manchester City had
two unlikely allies when it came to convincing him to
move to the Etihad – Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani.
The Portuguese midfielder turned to his two
countrymen for advice when Pep Guardiola made
Monaco a £43million offer they couldn’t refuse at the
start of the summer.
Manchester United legend Ronaldo told Silva he
would be joining an “amazing club”.
And former Old Trafford winger Nani also put
Mancunian loyalty to one side by urging the 23-year-
old to move to the Etihad.

Bramall's fate decided
Arsenal will send young left-back Cohen Bramall on-
loan after deciding to keep Nacho Monreal for one
more season.
The Gunners had told Bramall he would be back-up to
new signing Sead Kolasinac this season with Monreal
and Kieran Gibbs moving on, and whilst the latter is
set to move – the Spaniard is set to have one more
season at The Emirates.
The 21-year-old has played an active part in the first-
team this pre-season but Arsene Wenger wants him to
get some game time.
There are a host of Championship clubs who want
him.
But it is understood that Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam
have been identified as the most likely landing place
for him – as Wenger feels they would be the best fit.
