been a wild summer of transfers and it's not over
yet.
Where to begin? Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester
City are well documented as being in the market for
new players still.
The Blues, or rather Antonio Conte, is demanding
several new names.
While Spurs have so far waited until now to do their
business and must surely be questioning again what
they need after Chelsea exposed their one-
dimensional attack.
Pep Guardiola still wants a centre-back, Jonny Evans?
Surely not? £30m? It might just happen.
Then there's the bottom of the table as Brighton
frantically rush out to sign strikers capable of firing
them to safety after drawing two blanks out of two
games so far.
Paris Saint-Germain are not done yet either, Kylian
Mbappe could become the second most expensive
player of all time, while Fabinho might just be as
important as any signing for Unai Emery at the heart
of the midfield.
Addicks have two bids for striker
rejected
Charlton boss Karl Robinson has confirmed that the
club have seen two bids rejected for a striker.
“We’ve been rejected with two bids and the player’s
club’s valuation goes way above what we feel is right
for that player,” he told the official club website.
“We are in the market for a striker but it has got to be
the right one and it has got to be the one to take us
forward.
“I’ve been told that the ability for us to do that [to
buy a striker] is there but the problem we have is that
the players we want are also wanted by their clubs.
“That happens at the top level and that happens at
every level. We’ll keep trying, we’ve got seven days
and the board have said to me to push hard.
“We’re working around the clock to try and get
something done but if a club does not want to sell a
player then that player won’t move. It’s as simple as
that.”

Zlat's back....will he be back among
the goals?
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has returned to Manchester United
- and is evens with Ladbrokes to score 10 or more
Premier League goals this season.
The Swede has signed a new one year deal at Old
Trafford. The question now is whether Jose Mourinho
will use he and £75m Romelu Lukaku as a pair?
That question can at least be held until a later date,
with Ibra not set to be fully fit until the end of
October - two months ahead of schedule.
So will he be straight back in the thick of the action
and among the goals? It’s been 12 years since he
failed to net 10 or more league goals. Worth
reminding.

Bad news for Dembele as he's left out
of France squad
Kylian Mbappe has been named in France’s squad for
their upcoming World Cup qualifiers - but there is no
place for his fellow summer transfer target Ousmane
Dembele.
Monaco sensation Mbappe was linked with a potential
move to the Premier League for much of the current
window but now appears destined to stay in Ligue 1
with Paris St Germain.
He has featured in only one of the reigning French
champions’ three league games thus far due to the
speculation over his future but that has not prevented
him from being selected by national coach Didier
Deschamps.
The same cannot be said for Dembele, who has been
absent from Borussia Dortmund’s training sessions
amid talk of a move to Barcelona.
Deschamps said at a press conference broadcast on
the website of the French Football Federation:

at Hearts as the club’s board deliberates over Ian

departure before the beginning of the season, and has

permanent basis. Under Daly, Hearts suffered defeat
at Celtic, but bounced back with a win over
Kilmarnock and a valuable point away at Rangers and
he feels ready to take the next step.

pitch, but I also know that I have to take my time to
make sure that I am ready.
“I have been working hard and will continue to do so
to make sure I am in the best possible condition for
my return to the pitch.”
Spending at an all-time high
Premier League spending in the current transfer
window is already at an all-time record level, with a
week remaining.
Figures released by Deloitte’s Sports Business Group
showed top-flight clubs had spent £1.17billion on
players this summer by 9am on Thursday, breaking
the record of £1.165m set last year.
That was already a 34 per cent rise on the previous
record for a single window - and with time remaining
this time around the numbers could rise to even more
breathtaking levels.
