9.15pm: Talks have broken down between Everton and
Swansea over a deal for Gylfi Sigurdsson, according to
Sky Sports.
A deal is now in jeopardy after more than five weeks
of negotiations between the two clubs.
One source has suggested a verbal agreement was
reached between the two clubs, only for Everton to
withdraw the offer 48 hours later.
They reverted back to their first offer said to be
around £40m.
8.30pm: Paul Scholes has given his verdict on
Manchester United signing Nemanja Matic from
Chelsea.
He said on BT Sport: “Big signings I think. I really like
the Matic signing. That was the one that surprised me
a little bit. It made you wonder why did Chelsea sell
him?
“He brings aggression to United’s midfield which is
something I think they have been lacking.
“I think he’s very similar in a way to Michael Carrick in
a controlling midfielder, but what he brings what
Michael doesn’t bring is a little bit of aggression which
as I say he gets to the ball, he tackles, he allows other
people to play.
“I think you saw that with Chelsea last year when
Kante were magnificent together last year and that
allowed Hazard and Fabregas and whoever else was
playing that bit of freedom.
“I’m hoping he’ll do that with United. A bit of freedom
for Pogba, for Martial, for Lingard, Martial, Mkhitaryan.
These players need to step up this year."
7.50pm: Danny Rose could well make a move to
Manchester United this summer, according to the
bookies.
BetStars Director of Trading Ian Marmion said:
“Despite Mauricio Pochettino’s desire to keep his
young Tottenham side intact, the club’s longest
serving player Danny Rose appears likely to follow Kyle
Walker out of the exit door this window.
“Manchester United are known to be sniffing around
Rose and are priced as favourites 6/4 with BetStars to
secure the left-back’s signature.
“Across the city, Manchester City are priced at 10/1 to
land Rose after already outlaying £50m on Walker.
“Inter Milan are also monitoring Rose’s situation, with
the Serie A giants available at 5/1 to make the San
Siro Rose’s next destination.”
7.10pm: Southampton DONE DEAL
Southampton have signed Mario Lemina from Juventus
for a reported fee of £15.4m.
The 23-year-old has agreed a five-year deal with the
Saints.
The deal is a club record for Southampton.
6.20pm: Chelsea are ready to turn to Monaco star
Djibril Sidibe as they strive to land a new full-back.
Despite spending upwards of £130m already this
summer, Premier League champions Chelsea have
suffered a frustrating transfer window.
Chelsea have been trying to sign Juventus star Alex
Sandro all summer long but it seems the Brazilian is
destined to stay put in Turin.
Other targets are proving equally difficult to nail down
and the Blues are starting to get desperate, especially
following Sunday’s Community Shield defeat to
Arsenal.
Transfermarketweb claim Conte and co and are now
planning to try and land France international Sidibe.
5.35pm: Liverpool are odds-on to sign Virgil van Dijk
from Liverpool this summer, according to the bookies.
BetStars spokesman Ian Marmion said: “There appears
to be another twist in the Virgil van Dijk transfer saga
this summer after the Dutchman’s transfer request has
invited the interest of a number of the Premier
League’s biggest clubs.
“Liverpool still appear to be the frontrunners in the
chase and are odds-on at 1/2 to sign the centre-back
this summer, with the Saints defender keen to play
under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
“However, Antonio Conte is desperate to add depth to
his Chelsea squad before the transfer window closes
and the Blues are priced at 6/4 to nab Southampton’s
star man.
“Arsenal are also in the market to sign a central
defender after switching to a back three last season,
and are priced at 18/1 to sign the Netherlands
international.”
4.45pm: Barcelona have struck a £109m agreement
with Liverpool for the signing of Philippe Coutinho.
The Catalan club will pay an initial £81.6m with
bonuses that could bring the total transfer fee to
£108.8m.
Sources told ESPN Deportes' Jordi Blanco a delegation
from Barca travelled to Liverpool last night to finalise
the negotiation with chief executive Oscar Grau
present.
The news comes on the day reports have claimed the
25-year-old has told Jurgen Klopp he wants to leave
Anfield.
4pm: Barcelona are not concerned about losing Sergi
Roberto this summer.
Reports yesterday claimed United, Chelsea and
Manchester City have all held talks with the 25-year-
old.
However, ESPN say Barca are not looking to let their
midfielder go this summer.
The Spanish giants are refusing to sell Roberto
following Neymar's world-record £198m move to PSG
last week.
3.30pm: Philippe Coutinho has downed tools in training
to try and force through a move to Barcelona, it has
sensationally been claimed today.
It’s being reported today that the Brazilian is trying to
force a way out of Liverpool and is doing ‘little in
training’.
Yahoo Sports claim Coutinho is unhappy with Jurgen
Klopp for denying him his wish of leaving Anfield for
Barcelona.
The report says that Coutinho has twice asked to be
allowed to join Barcelona in direct discussions with
Klopp, both of which have been rejected.
