Manchester United have been told to stop their
supporters singing an offensive chant about
Romelu Lukaku.
The song, set to the tune of the Stone Roses’
Made of Stone, has been heard at recent
matches following the striker’s £75million
summer switch to Old Trafford.
While sang in support of
the player, it refers to the
size of Lukaku’s manhood
and conforms to a racist
stereotype about the size
of black men’s penises.
Kick It Out, the football
equality and inclusion
organisation, have
contacted Manchester United about the chant
which they deem ’offensive and discriminatory’.
‘Racist stereotypes are never acceptable in
football or wider society, irrespective of any
intention to show support for a player,’ said a
spokesperson for the organisation

They added: ‘We have contacted Manchester
United regarding the issue and will be working
closely with them and the FA to ensure that it is
addressed swiftly. If we receive any reports
relating to the discriminatory chant, those will
be passed on to the governing body and the
perpetrators can expect to face punishment.’

advice while the club has affirmed they have a
‘zero tolerance’ approach to racism.
