UK has committed 'CARDINAL SIN': 'Vengeful' EU will PUNISH for Brexit - whistleblower

Robert McCoy, 67, from Liverpool is a former financial
controller of the Committee of the Regions. He alleges
that he was harassed for several years by Brussels
bosses because he refused to alter figures for the EU
regional assembly.
Now he fears that Britain is in line for similar
punishment, because the country broke ranks with the
European institution and it has angered bosses like EU
Chief negotiator Michel Barnier.
Mr McCoy told The Telegraph: “Breaking ranks is a
cardinal sin in the EU.
“I think Britain is in line for similar punishment to what
I got when you hear the rumblings from Michel Barnier.
“I hope to God I am wrong and that Brexit becomes a
success for both sides.”

Following Theresa May’s landmark Brexit speech in
Florence, Italy, yesterday, Mr Barnier said in a tweet
that her speech was "constructive" but that it "must
be translated into negotiating positions to make
meaningful progress."
He also stressed that the EU’s relationship with the
UK must have less perks than membership.
Mrs May used her speech to press home that failing to
reach a Brexit deal with the European Union would be
a “damaging blow” to Europe's future.
She urged EU leaders to approach the talks with
creativity and ambition as she set out her ideas on
breaking the deadlock in Brexit negotiations.

The talks, which will restart on Monday, have hit a
roadblock on issues such as the amount that Britain
must pay to settle its financial commitments to the
bloc.
The EU is rumoured to want Britain to cough up 100
billion euros while Britain thinks the sum should be
around 20 billion euros.
Mr Barnier has struck a negative tone throughout
Brexit talks.
Yesterday, he noted that "for the first time, the United
Kingdom government has requested to continue to
benefit from access to the single market, on current
terms."
He said that if the leaders of the 27 other EU nations
agree, then "this new request could be taken into
account by the EU but is limited for a period of up to
two years."

must be reached with Europe
Mr Barnier – had made it clear he was not prepared to
open negotiations on a free trade deal until the issue
is settled – but said he would be listening “attentively
and constructively” to what she had to say.
He said earlier: “All that is necessary in this
negotiation is that everyone honours the commitments
that they have made to each other. To settle the
accounts. No more, no less.”
Mr McCoy, alleges that he found widespread fraud in
his former department - the Committee of the Regions,
the EU's regional and local representatives, in 2000.
But when he flagged it up, he was met with a wall of
silence.
Mr Mccoy, was demoted in 2007 and had a pay slash.
The dad-of-four, who has lived in Brussels since 1973,
has chosen to battle his ex employers as he believes
that he has been treated unfairly.

He told The Telegraph: “The EU is a sacred cow that
can’t be criticised."
Regarding Mr McCoy's case, the Committee of the
Regions said it would not comment as it is still
pending.
Mr McCoy has claimed to the EU judges in
Luxembourg that he was harassed.
A spokesman told the Telegraph: "It is our practice
not to comment on ongoing disciplinary, investigation
or litigation cases.
"Nonetheless we wish to reiterate our full commitment
to closing the file as soon as possible."
Express.co.uk has contacted the Committee for further
comment.
