The German Chancellor is worried such leaks could
deepen animosity between the negotiating parties and
even topple the Prime Minister.
A German source told The Times: “ Angela Merkel is
furious at these reports.
“It is known that she has lost patience with the British
Conservatives but the last thing she wants is for
Theresa May to be replaced in the middle of the Brexit
negotiations.”

Ms Merkel’s reaction follows a report in a German
newspaper claiming Mrs May “beg” Mr Juncker for
help with the Brexit deal.
The leak claimed Mrs May looked “despondent” and
had dark rings under eyes when she dined with Mr
Juncker last week.
The Prime Minister looked “anxious, despondent and
disheartened” during dinner the paper claimed.
Angela Merkel is reportedly furious over Brexit leaks
Mr
Juncker denied the leak saying: “Nothing is true in all
of this.
“She was in good shape, she was not tired, she was
fighting as is her duty so everything for me was Ok.”
When asked whether Mrs May had begged for progress
he replied: “No, that’s not the style of British prime

Both parties have denied the leaks claiming they were
not accurate
Following her recent election victory, which saw her
party lose ground to the far-Right AfD, Merkel is said
to be extremely concerned about the potential of talks
collapsing.
If talks collapse without a deal being reach EU
economies would be set to lose out on billions in trade
and in a so-called divorce bill.
The news comes after Mrs May told Parliament the
UK is "within touching distance" of a Brexit deal with
Brussels.
The PM said Brexit negotiations with Brussels had
been “constructive” and said she is “ambitious and
positive” about the UK’s future once talks end.
The German Chancellor is thought to be concerned the
leaks will cause talks to collapse
She said her first priority was the rights of EU citizens
in the UK and the rights of UK citizens living in the EU.
Mrs May said of EU citizens living in Britain: “We want
them to stay.”
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn hit out at the PM after
her speech, warning her her real enemy was within the
Tory party and not Brussels.
He claimed he was reminded of "Groundhog Day" after
hearing Mrs May’s comments, claiming he had heard
all her promises and arranges before.
