Arsenal still trying to re- sign Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil insists owner Stan Kroenke, despite transfers looming

Arsenal have not given up on keeping Alexis Sanchez
and Mesut Ozil , according to Stan Kroenke.
Star duo Sanchez and Ozil are both out of contract at
the end of this season.
The Gunners have so far been unable to agree new
deals with either of them, and manager Arsene
Wenger recently hinted at cashing in when the winter
transfer window opens rather than lose them for
nothing.

But majority shareholder Stan Kroenke insists the club
would love them to re-sign — and claims his
Londoners can compete for Europe’s top players.
Talking exclusively to the Mirror before Thursday's
AGM, Kroenke said: “We want to attract top players,
keep top players. Those guys (Sanchez and Ozil) are
top players.
“I watched them on Sunday (in the 5-2 win at
Everton) and they looked really good in black with the
red trim. They looked really good and they played
really well and we’d love to keep them.
“It takes two to dance. We’ll keep working to keep our
top talent and to attract more talent but some of the
guys we’ve got are looking pretty good.

“I feel good about Arsenal’s ability to compete, and
compete at a very high level. But I also feel we can
get better, I really do. I think we’ll get better at it.”
Manchester City are chasing Chile striker Sanchez for
a reunion with his old Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola,
while World Cup-winning Germany midfielder Ozil
would be a target for top clubs if he becomes a free
agent.
However, Kroenke maintains that Arsenal can contend
in the transfer market for the game's best players.
“Great city, tremendous club with a great tradition and
a great manager. And we do spend a lot on players.
You can always say one club does this, or that. But
we really do.”
