UK weather: Britons to be blasted by wind and rain before a perfect weekend

The North will suffer the worst of the rain and strong
winds while many in the southwest will benefit from
some drier weather.
Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill said: “It is this
area of wet and windy weather towards the northwest
that we should keep an eye on.
“Through Tuesday evening we are going to see this
wet weather making its way in bringing a pretty wet
night across Scotland and Northern Ireland. And then
later on into north west England and Wales as well.”

A mixed bag of a day today will start cloudy with
patchy rain before clearing for most apart from those
in the southwest where the rain may hold on.
As the rain clears it will be replaced by drier and
brighter conditions, especially in the north and east
who will enjoy some nice weather.
Mr Burkill said: “A fairly murky start to Tuesday, we
are likely to see some brightness breaking out as we
go through the day particularly towards the east.”
However, things will turn nastier in the northwest as
the day goes on.
Temperatures will be a little bit above average for this
time of year hovering around the mid-teens by the
afternoon.
Mr Burkill said: “Temperatures on Tuesday will be a
little bit above average for this time of year, maybe
high of 17 and 18 Celsius towards the south and east.”

Later tonight this will get worse with heavy rains and
strong to gale force winds being inflicted on some of
the west and northwest being battered as conditions
turn sour.
The south will be mostly dry in the evening with the
far north west turning clear but being hit with showers.
The north west will be blighted by rain later today
A similar picture will continue through Wednesday and
Thursday before brighter weather arrives just in time
for the weekend.
By Friday the Jet Stream will have pushed further
forward allowing warmer weather the creep up from
the south allowing temperatures to rise.
Weather is also forecast to be drier and sunnier with
Sunday forecast to be particularly pleasant.
