WWE Smackdown results: 7 things you missed overnight as Shane McMahon explains Raw invasion

As Raw moves on from the Tables, Ladders and
Chairs pay-per-view, the attention has immediately
turned to Survivor Series next month – and the fall
out from Monday's stunning Smackdown invasion.
Shane McMahon and his Smackdown roster invaded
Monday's Raw show to attack superstars from the
red brand, sending a clear message to Kurt Angle and
co about just what they can expect when the two
brands go head-to-head at Survivor Series.
Sami Zayn, AJ Styles, Randy Orton, Becky Lynch and
The New Day were all in action on Tuesday night.
Here are seven things you missed overnight from this
week's edition of Smackdown...

Shane McMahon explains
Smackdown's attack
Smackdown's stunning attack to end Monday Night
Raw has dominated discussion over the last 24 hours,
and Smackdown commissioner Shane McMahon
kicked off this week's show by explaining his actions.
McMahon claimed that it was Kurt Angle's use of AJ
Styles on two successive Raw shows – despite
claiming that Smackdown talent is inferior to Raw's –
summed up the attitude of the red brand, and that's
when McMahon rallied his troops to attack.
McMahon was confronted by Sami Zayn – the man
who helped Kevin Owens beat the commissioner at
Hell In A Cell – who suggested that he and Owens
have thought things over and they will represent
Smackdown at Survivor Series, only for McMahon to
hit back by saying he doesn't want or need either of
them after their recent actions, but they would be
given chances to quality for their Survivor Series
team...

Benjamin and Gable prepare for The
Usos with in over The New Day
After winning the chance to face The Usos for the
Smackdown Tag Team Championships, Shelton
Benjamin and Chad Gable were back in action again
this week, taking on The New Day as they look to
gear up for their title shot.
Benjamin and Gable continued their momentum with
an impressive win, as Gable pinned Xavier Woods for
the victory, sending The Usos a warning about just
what they will face when their Championships are on
the line again.
Baron Corbin loses to Sin Cara –
again
Last week, United States Champion Baron Corbin
endured an embarrassing defeat to Sin Cara, as he
was counted out to hand Sin Cara the victory...and a
similar fate met The Lone Wolf again as the pair had
a rematch.
This time, Corbin was disqualified for throwing
punches at Sin Cara despite being told to stop by
referee Brian Nguyen, which forced the
disqualification. An enraged Corbin proceeded to hit
Sin Cara with an End of Days on the outside of the
ring, but with defeats in a row, Corbin may have to
put his United States Championship on the line before
Survivor Series.
AJ Styles defeats Sunil Singh in rapid
fashion
AJ Styles has been working tirelessly in recent days,
leaving a tour of South America to face Finn Balor at
TLC, then joining The Shield on Raw on Monday night,
before returning to Smackdown on Tuesday to
confront Jinder Mahal.
WWE Champion Mahal, who will face Universal
Champion Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series, was yet
again complaining about not receiving enough respect
for his work, reminding Paul Heyman that he has
earned his success by beating Randy Orton and
Shinsuke Nakamura.
Styles arrived for his match with Sunil Singh, and after
Mahal had been ejected from ringside, Styles claimed
an easy victory, forcing Singh to submit to the Calf
Crusher in rapid fashion as he chases Mahal and the
WWE Championship.
Becky Lynch becomes captain of
Smackdown's Women's Survivor
Series team
Raw settled on their captain for their Women's
Survivor Series team, with Alicia Fox defeating Bayley
and Sasha Banks for that honour – and five
Smackdown women fought on Tuesday for a similar
right, given that Champion Natalya will be facing Raw
Women's Champion Alexa Bliss.
Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Carmella, Naomi and
Tamina all faced off for the right to become
Smackdown team captain, and it was Lynch who
claimed the win, forcing Carmella to tap out to the
Dis-Arm-her submission, with Lynch now leading her
team into Survivor Series.
Kevin Owens can't save Sami Zayn as
Randy Orton claims win
As mentioned earlier, Owens and Zayn will have to
qualify for their places on the Smackdown Men's
Survivor Series team, and Shane McMahon decided
that Zayn's qualifying match would be against Randy
Orton in the main event.
Whilst Owens and Zayn believed they would both be
heading to Survivor Series with ease, with Owens
facing Shinsuke Nakamura next week, their plan went
somewhat awry when Orton defeated Zayn.
As Orton was getting himself prepared for an RKO,
Owens ran in to try and save Zayn, but Orton hit Zayn
with a low blow as the referee dealt with Owens,
handing The Viper the chance to hit an RKO for the
win, punching his ticket to Survivor Series whilst
leaving Owens and Zayn in tatters.
Tensions mounting between Shane
McMahon and Daniel Bryan
Whilst the invasion of Raw has got fans talking, one
man who isn't too impressed with the situation is
Smackdown General Manager Daniel Bryan, who
confronted commissioner McMahon about Monday's
events.
Bryan initially told McMahon that he didn't agree with
his decision, and wondered why McMahon didn't even
ask him about staging the invasion, with the
commissioner claiming it's in his job title to
sometimes make decisions on his own without
consulting with a visibly frustrated Bryan.
The pair ended the show relieved that Raw didn't hit
back, but Bryan reminded McMahon that they will
attack at some point – and when they do, that will be
on McMahon's head and he must deal with the
consequences, as tensions mount between Bryan and
McMahon.
