ISIS-supporting Afghanistan refugee who posted personal details of US soldiers on Facebook to encourage terror attacks is jailed

A restaurant worker who shared details of US soldiers
on Facebook in a campaign to drum up support for
ISIS has been jailed.
Hussain Yousef, 21, used six social media profiles to
post extremist Islamist propaganda and execution
videos online.
He also shared a list of what he claimed to be details
of US military personnel, including their addresses.
Yousef, who worked at a restaurant in west London,
was sentenced to six and-a-half years at Kingston
Crown Court today.
He was convicted of collection of information which
may be useful to someone who commits or prepares
acts of terrorism, encouragement of terrorism and
dissemination of terrorist publications.
Yousef, of Brent, north-west London, was arrested last
year after members of the public reported his posts to
the police.
The court heard Yusef had been a gifted student who
excelled at school after he arrived in Britain from
Afghanistan in 2010.
A keen cricketer, his teachers at Oxford Spires
Academy described him as 'respectful and studious'
pupil who gained a place at Southampton University.
The court heard he turned his attention to ISIS'
murderous ideology after moving to Kilburn in
northwest London in 2014.
Google searches found by police on his computer
showed he typed 'Kill Kuffar in the same way they
have killed u quran' and 'retaliation against the kuffar
quran.'
Sentencing Yousef, Judge Paul Dodgson said: "You're
now 21 years old, and you came to this country in
2010.
"Teachers at school said you were delightful to teach
and eager to learn, charming and delightful.
"By September 2015 you asylum application had failed
and all avenues of appeal were closed to you.
"By then that boy from school had been transformed
into an enthusiastic supporter of ISIS.
"I believe it's likely that if you were not the
spreadsheet's author you were closely linked to the
person who was.
"The material contained the names and addresses of
members of US armed forces.
"The effects of your actions were considerable.
"The danger posed by that post was considerable and
you knew that your audience had a number of people
who were in touch with those capable of carrying out
attacks.
"You knew that you were putting out on the internet
personal details that could place those individuals in a
great deal of peril."
Speaking after the case, Commander Dean Haydon
said: "Yousef was sharing content, images and videos
of the terrorist activities of Daesh through his various
Facebook accounts and trying to get others to support
their evil and hateful ideology.
"This case was brought to our attention thanks to
members of the public reporting it to us and I
continue to urge anyone who see terrorist or extremist
material online to act and report it via the online
reporting tool."
