Luxembourg minister LASHES EU member states for trying to PUNISH Brexit Britain

The Luxembourgish politician pilloried other EU
countries for trying to "punish" the UK for voting to
Brexit from the EU.
Mr Gramegna said: "There are certainly a few, whom
I’m not going to mention, who want to punish the UK
because their people have decided to leave the
European Union. That’s not the right approach.
"I would say the majority of countries think we have to
find a solution. We have to make sure that even after
Brexit, the business relationship is good and I have
many ideas how that can be done."
Mr Gramegna said certain EU members want to punish
the UK for voting to Brexit from the EU
Mr Gramegna said his country was committed to
reaching an agreement with Brexit Britain to ensure a
smooth transition for both parties.
Speaking to Bloomberg, he added: "Luxembourg is
definitely reaching out and saying ‘we must be on the
cooperative approach.’ It’s in the best interest of the
UK and the EU27.
"On the one hand the British would like to have the
cake and eat it and some Europeans want to punish
them. Let’s find a way in between."
It comes after Brexit secretary David Davis accused
Brussels of derailing talks to "pressure" Britain to pay
a larger Brexit divorce bill.
Mr Davis suggested the EU was deliberately refusing
to move the Brexit negotiations to the future UK-EU
trade relationship in an attempt to see Britain buckle
under pressure and concede it will pay more as part of
the divorce.
Talking to MPs, Mr Davis said: "The simple truth is, of
course, we’re in a negotiation and they’re using time
pressure to see if they can get more money out of us,
and bluntly, that’s what’s going on.
"It’s obvious to anybody, and that will take some time,
but we will get there in time, I’m quite sure, to get a
decent outcome for everybody."
Prime Minister Theresa May and EU Commission boss
Jean-Claude Juncker agreed to "accelerate" Brexit
efforts during a private meeting in Brussels.
