Anthony Joshua could be set for another heavyweight
world title unification fight next year as Eddie Hearn
has reiterated his intention to match Deontay Wilder
with Dillian Whyte for the WBC world title.
The winner would then face AJ with his IBF and WBA
(Super) straps also on the line in what would either be
a domestic grudge match or a true global event
against the Bronze Bomber.
Hearn has outlined his plans for both Whyte and
Joshua, who could face off with Joseph Parker in the
meantime to gather the WBO title.
"I think the Wilder fight is one for next summer,'
Hearn told boxingscene.com . "I'd like [Wilder] to fight
Dillian Whyte. I mean I've talked to [Wilder's] guys
again today - and the winner fights Josh.
"Parker is a fight we could look at in February or
March. But you know we've got a WBA mandatory
[title defence], potentially... I don't know.
"But I think the main aim is to fight three times next
year, and I'd like two of those to be for additional
belts. It doesn't always work out like that, but the aim
is to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of
the world."
AJ has had plans for his WBA mandatory disrupted as
Kubrat Pulev suffered an injury to end his hopes of
challenging for the title again.
Carlos Takam will step up as a replacement with
Hearn insisting that the Cameroonian-French brawler
was already in camp after a private agreement to
train in the event that Pulev sustained an injury.
Wilder will take on Bermane Stiverne in a rematch on
November 4 after Luis Ortiz was pulled after failing a
drugs test in the build-up to their fight.
Whyte has been chasing Wilder for some time, though
the American has so far dismissed the Body Snatcher
as a legitimate opponent.
The Brit is highly ranked in the WBC though and could
bring attention from the UK market ahead of a super
fight with Joshua to match the Wladimir Klitschko
fight at Wembley.
