Why The Undertaker has not officially retired yet - and how much WWE are still paying him

The Undertaker remains under contract with the WWE
- and could yet return to the screen.
It had appeared that Taker, one of the WWE's most
legendary superstars, had retired when he lost to
Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania earlier this year.
The Deadman, 52, left the ring to a standing ovation
and chants of "Thank you, Taker " in Orlando.
He left his trademark hat and coat in the squared
circle as he headed back up the ramp for what
seemed to be the final time.
But Taker remains under contract by company, with a
whole four years still reportedly remaining on his part-
time deal.
According to Total Sportek, Taker, real name Mark
Calaway, is earning $1.75million (£1.33m) from the
contract.
The deal could be run down with sporadic
appearances at WWE calendar events, while he is also
scheduled to appear at the Ace Comic Con in
Uniondale, New York on December 8.
It is unlikely that Taker will ever compete in the ring
again, however, after undergoing hip replacement
surgery following his Wrestlemania defeat.
The Undertaker has wrestled for the WWE for nearly
27 years, making his debut at Survivor Series in 1990.
He soon became a fan favourite before winning his
first WWF championship in 1991 against Hulk Hogan.
Taker was probably most famous for his Wrestlemania
winning streak, where he won 21 matches in a row
before finally losing to Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania
30 in 2014.
