OX signs, more to follow…
12:15: Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Alex
Oxlade-Chamberlain in a £40million deal.
And Virgil van Dijk and Thomas Lemar could follow him
on a dramatic deadline day at Anfield.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has signed a five-year contract to
join the club he supported as a boy, having rejected
the chance to move to Chelsea.
Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp could yet make further
signings before tonight's transfer deadline, as they
continue to hold talks with Monaco in an attempt to
secure a £75m deal for French forward Lemar.
They have not given up hope either of signing Van Dijk,
though they acknowledge that it would take a
significant shift in Southampton's stance for the £70m-
valued centre-back to move to Anfield.
Oxlade-Chamberlain: I’m delighted to have
signed
12:10: In a message to Reds fans after sealing the
move, Oxlade-Chamberlain said: “I’m currently away
with England, so I’m at St George’s Park.
“Firstly, I’m delighted to have signed for Liverpool and
a big thank-you to everyone here at the FA that has
made this possible, using the facilities. It has been a
massive help.
“I’m not going to say too much today. I’m here with
England and we’ve got two big games coming up, so I
want to focus on them. But I can’t wait to get to
Melwood.”
DONE DEAL: LIVERPOOL SIGN OXLADE-
CHAMBERLAIN
12:00: Liverpool have completed the signing of Alex
Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal in a deal believed to
be worth up to £35million.
The Merseyside club have announced the 24-year-old
England midfielder has signed a long-term deal,
understood to be five years, at Anfield.
Liverpool moved for Oxlade-Chamberlain this week
after the player reportedly turned down the chance to
join Chelsea.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is currently on international
duty, underwent a medical at England's St George's
Park training base after agreeing terms with the Reds.

Bizarre VVD story
11:50: Liverpool won’t sell a shirt with Virgil van Dijk’s
name on - unless you prove your surname is Van Dijk!
We contacted Liverpool’s official club shop this
morning to enquire whether there was any way Van
Dijk shirts were for sale.
A helpful shop worker asked: “Is it officially signed off
now?”
When we confirmed no deal had been confirmed, they
added: “Okay, so we can’t print shirts with his name
on until he’s actually signed.”
There was a way round it, though. If your name is Van
Dijk the club WILL allow you to print shirts.
The worked added: “You’d need to fill out a shirt
personalisation form and show that’s your surname.”
Coutinho ready to beg
11:40: Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho will reportedly
beg the Reds to let him join La Liga giants Barcelona.
The playmaker is currently with the Brazil squad at
their Port Alegre base.
And he is supposedly keeping abreast of developments
over in England Spain.
The Sun say he will approach Klopp himself and beg
the German to let him seal his dream move to
Barcelona.
Can bid in the pipeline
11:35: Liverpool can expect a £23m bid from Juventus
today as the Italian side push to sign Emre Can before
the transfer deadline.
Juve have been public in their interest in Can, with
director Beppe Marotta expressing his desire to snap
up the German.
The Serie A giants are willing to wait until January to
discuss a free transfer with the midfielder at the end
of the season.
But Italian newspaper La Stampa claim a final move to
sign Can on a permanent deal this summer will be
lodged before today’s 11pm transfer deadline.
Spies everywhere…
11:25: Liverpool CEO Peter Moore has posted a funny
picture from inside their deadline day boardroom.
Chief executive Moores has had a bit of fun this
morning on what could prove a frantic day of business.
“I know everyone is interested in what is happening
today, but this is becoming beyond ridiculous…” he
tweeted.
The message was accompanied with a picture from
what appeared to be a boardroom in Liverpool’s city
centre of a window cleaner doing his work.

Saints standing firm
10:40: Virgil Van Dijk's name keeps cropping up in
transfer talk but Daily Star journalist Paul Brown has
been told there’s "no way in a million years" that
Southampton agree to sell him to Liverpool today.
Club position is even firmer on it in private than they
have been in public and it would be a huge shock if he
ends up at Anfield now.
Ox closer to Anfield switch
10:25: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain looks to be edging
ever closer to being a Liverpool player with another
photo being leaked of him wearing the Reds kit.
The winger is on international duty with England this
week, but underwent a medical at St. George’s Park
on Wednesday evening.
Last night the England international was pictured in
full Liverpool kit after undergoing a medical ahead of
his move from Arsenal.
And today another photo doing the rounds on Twitter
looks to be from a leaked photoshoot ahead of his
unveiling.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is shown smiling holding the
badge to the camera.
Chelsea livid with Liverpool
09:45: Chelsea are furious with Liverpool and Arsenal
after missing out on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The Arsenal winger looked set to join the Blues after
both clubs agreed a £40million fee.
But the England international rejected a switch to
north London at the last minute as he was holding out
for a move to Liverpool.
The Reds then made their move and are now on the
verge of completing his transfer after the 24-year-old
underwent a medical at St George’s Park last night,
where he has been with the England squad preparing
for tomorrow’s World Cup qualifier in Malta.
And the Mirror claim Chelsea have been left angered
by the actions of Liverpool and Arsenal, feeling like
they have “been played” by the Anfield club to try and
force Arsene Wenger’s side into selling to them.

Coutinho/Van Dijk/Lemar update
09:25: Sky Sports presenter Vinny O’Connor has
provided an update from Liverpool’s Melwood training
facility.
O’Connor claims Liverpool’s interest in Thomas Lemar
remains as strong as ever, while Divock Origi looks
likely to join Wolfsburg on a season-long loan.
He said: “At the very least we expect Liverpool to
announce one deal today with a fee having been
agreed with Arsenal for Oxlade-Chamberlain.
“We also expect the futures of Coutinho and Van Dijk
to become clearer today, while they retain an interest
in Monaco winger Lemar.
“Origi now looks on his way to Wolfsburg, who are
prepared to pay his £6m loan fee and another possible
departure today is Sakho, who could well get a
permanent move to Palace.”
Mane fear - Aldridge
08:40: Liverpool must fear Sadio Mane will follow in
Philippe Coutinho’s footsteps as being targeted by a
huge bid in the future.
That’s according to Reds legend John Aldridge who
believes Mane has overtaken Coutinho as the main
man at Anfield.
“Sadio Mane suddenly looks like the bargain of the
century after his £30m move to Liverpool last summer
- and the fear must be that he will be next on the
wanted list for one of these mega-money transfers
that are becoming the norm,” Aldridge wrote in the
Irish Independent.
“Manchester United were among the clubs linked with
Mane in the months before he left Southampton, yet
the Senegal international was not see as the world-
beater he is developing into following his arrival at
Liverpool.”
Ox announcement at midday
08:00: Sky Sports reporter Aidan Magee is expecting
Liverpool to make an announcement they’ve signed
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at midday today.
Express Sport understands the clubs have agreed a
£40million deal - with £35m up front - that will see the
England international move to Anfield.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, 24, had also been a target for
Premier League champions Chelsea but it is believed
Liverpool was always the player's preferred
destination.
Magee said: “Today is the day Arsenal face losing two
of their leading players. An Oxlade-Chamberlain deal
was hit last night. The medical is done. We are
expecting an announcement around midday today.”
Barca happy to wait...
07:55: Barcelona are awaiting the outcome of
Liverpool’s meeting with Monaco today regarding
Thomas Lemar to decide on how they approach their
transfer dealings.
Liverpool are hoping to wrap up a deal for France
midfielder Lemar today and Spanish publication Sport
claim the two clubs are in negotiations over his
transfer.
The Reds may need to fork out up to £92million to
convince Monaco to sell though.
Should Liverpool sign Lemar, and with Alex Oxlade-
Chamberlain set to join from Arsenal, the Merseyside
outfit could finally decide to cash in on Coutinho.
Barca have been chasing the Brazilian all summer but
Liverpool have so far rejected their advances.
But Sport suggest Liverpool will allow Coutinho to
leave if their meeting with Monaco over Lemar results
in a positive outcome.

£92m will do the trick…
07:20: Monaco concede they could sell Thomas Lemar
if a bid of £92million is tabled, according to Kaveh
Solhekol.
Divock Origi has reportedly been offered to Monaco in
a loan deal and the Anfield outfit are prepared to pay
£74.4m for Lemar’s services.
But Sky Sports reporter Solhekol admits Monaco would
struggle to reject a bid of £92m if it were tabled.
“Monaco say Liverpool target Thomas Lemar not for
sale,” he tweeted.
“Every player has his price. Told Monaco would find it
hard to turn down €100m (£92m).”
Fergie ‘disappointed’ with Coutinho’s
situation
06:40: Sir Alex Ferguson is ‘disappointed’ with the
situation surrounding Philippe Coutinho’s future at
Liverpool.
Barcelona have so far had three bids rejected from
Liverpool for Coutinho, with the player desperate to
push through a move before tonight’s deadline.
Premier League clubs have once again raised the
question of pushing back the transfer window so it
doesn’t coincide with the start of the new season.
And Manchester United’s legendary coach Ferguson
believes Coutinho’s situation wouldn’t have gotten to
the stage it is now if that was the case.
"I think strong management is crucial in this situation.
Part of your job as a coach also is to educate your
players' character so they have a responsibility to
what they're doing," Ferguson said, speaking at the
UEFA Elite Coaches Forum in Nyon.
"Obviously, in some cases, that is changing a bit. It's
disappointing because I'm sure that, in the case of
Liverpool, they did a very good job in making Coutinho
the player he is today.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain to Anfield
05:30: Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Alex
Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has refused a move to Chelsea
after the Blues came to an agreement with Arsenal
over a £35m move.
Arsenal are happy to sell but Oxlade-Chamberlain
doesn't want to move to Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool and Arsenal came to an agreement on
Wednesday afternoon.
A medical is planned and he is expected to sign a
long-term contract at Anfield.
Thomas Lemar to Liverpool
05:25: Monaco have already rejected a £64.5m bid
from Liverpool for Thomas Lemar.
But the Reds will not stop there.
Improved offers are expected today and Lemar could
be set for a tight deal as the deadline approaches.
There's plenty of musical chairs likely to be taking
place on Merseyside.
Yet to make matters worse Liverpool's top target is on
international duty. It just complicates things even
more.
