Clubs are tussling to complete the final deals before
Thursday's 11pm deadline - and there is plenty still to
be done.
The biggest tug-of-war appears to be between
Chelsea and Liverpool in the fight to sign Arsenal
midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
He might not be the only Arsenal player leaving either,
with Manchester City readying themselves for Alexis
Sanchez.
Liverpool have turned down an attempt from Crystal
Palace to sign Mamadou Sakho but they are expected
back with another bid. As for Virgil van Dijk, well,
Liverpool fans have been getting themselves into a
frenzy over that one.
And could Demarai Gray make a Premier League
switch? There's plenty of interest in him.

City back in touch over Sanchez
Man City have been back in touch with Arsenal for
Alexis Sanchez this morning.
They have told Arsenal they are willing to pay above
£60m and bid will follow.
But they know it depends on Arsenal getting one in.
Julian Draxler from PSG looks most likely. Sanchez
wants to join Man City and is on standby to go.

Evans in Manchester
Jonny Evans’ hopes of landing a move to Manchester
City are in the balance after the West Brom defender
arrived at Manchester Airport with the Northern
Ireland squad to catch a flight ahead of his country’s
World Cup clash with San Marino.
City are yet to increase their offer for the former
Manchester United defender after having an initial
£22million bid knocked back by the Baggies.Arsenal
and Leicester are also interested in Evans, but the 29-
year-old would prefer a move to the Etihad.

Arsenal in Draxler talks
Arsenal are holding talks with PSG to try and get
Julian Draxler - and that will hold the key to Alexis
Sanchez, writes John Cross.
Manchester City are ready to bid again and go over
£60m to try and get Sanchez before the window
shuts.
But Arsenal have made it clear they must get a
replacement and PSG may do business on Draxler.

Birmingham sign Lowe
Birmingham City have signed Jason Lowe on a one-
year deal.
The 25-year-old was a free agent after leaving
Blackburn at the end of last season.
Liverpool still want Van Dijk and
Lemar
Liverpool are prepared to smash their transfer record
to land both Thomas Lemar and Virgil ban Dijk.
But the Reds are running out of time to land their two
remaining targets.
Liverpool are still trying to persuade Monaco to sell
Lemar, having had a £57.4million bid rejected, and are
willing to pay £70million for the France star.
Lemar, who scored 14 goals and made 17 assists last
season for the Ligue 1 champions, is understood to be
keen on a move to Anfield.
Liverpool are fast running out of time and Lemar is
with Didier Deshcamps’ France squad preparing for
tonight’s World Cup qualifier against Holland at the
Stade de France.
Liverpool, who are completing Alex Oxlade-
Chamberlain’s £40million switch from Arsenal, are
also on standby, waiting for the nod from
Southampton to begin talks over van Dijk.
The Reds have had to tread very carefully since
officially ending their interest in the Dutch centre-half
in June, but would jump at the chance to make him
the world’s most-expensive defender at over
£70million.
They will only act if encouraged by Southampton and
Saints are adamant van Dijk is not for sale, despite
him wanting to leave.

Palace want rid of six players
New Crystal Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman
is desperately trying to offload SIX players today to
free up room for new signings.
Freedman was brought into the club earlier this month
to help overhaul Palace’s squad and infrastructure.
He wants to make his mark by shifting a number of
flops and youngsters who are not deemed good
enough for the Premier League.
MirrorSport understands among those available to go
are Jordon Mutch and Hiram Boateng as Palace seek
to make room for new arrivals.

Leicester closing in on Silva
Leicester are closing in on a deal for Sporting Lisbon
midfielder Adrien Silva - and that could free Danny
Drinkwater to join Chelsea.
Silva, 28, is rated at £22m by Sporting who need to
sell players to balance the books and Leicester are
hopeful.
That will enable Drinkwater to go to Chelsea if they
can agree a fee with the clubs still some distance
apart.
Drinkwater has asked for a move and is desperate to
go to Stamford Bridge.

Exclusive: Mahrez hoping to seal
Barcelona deal
Riyad Mahrez is hoping to clinch a stunning dream
£50million move to Barcelona today.
Leicester’s 2016 PFA player of the year has been
given permission to leave Algeria’s international camp
to finalise a transfer with an unspecified club.
The star has been keen to quit the King Power
Stadium since the end of last season after previously
helping them win the title.
MirrorSport now understands attacking ace Mahrez,
26, is hoping Barca table a huge irresistible bid for his
services.
Mahrez’s representatives are believed to have held
talks with the Spanish club this week.
They hope a move could happen with Liverpool
stubbornly refusing to sell Philippe Coutinho to La
Liga club.
If Spanish giants Barca do bid for Mahrez they will be
expected to meet his £50m price tag.

year deal.
Sakho still hoping for Rennes deal
Diafra Sakho is still in France after agreeing to join
Rennes – and France Football claims the Senegal
striker and his camp “do not understand” what has
happened over the last 24 hours.
The West Ham passed a medical at the Ligue 1 club
yesterday and the clubs agreed a £9m fee. But amid
late interest from Crystal Palace, Hammers co-owner
David Gold last night tweeted: “Diafra Sakho is not for
sale in this transfer window he is an integral part of
our first team squad and will play a part in our
recovery.”

French paper round-up
L’Equipe reports the £166m deal between Paris Saint-
Germain and Monaco for Kylian Mbappe has not been
finalised because the two teams have not yet
finalised the terms of the loan deal.
The Paris club have already spent £199m on Neymar
– and want this deal to be an initial loan to get
around Financial Fair Play rules.
The problem is drawing up a contract which does not
have an obligation for PSG to buy the player – while
protecting Monaco from PSG returning Mbappe after a
season with only one year left in his contract.
Former Bolton star Youri Djorkaeff told Le Parisien:
“We often criticise youth and inexperience, and
players treat their job too lightly, and then we have
Mbappe is, without doubt one of the biggest talents in
the world, who is fully aware of his responsibilities as
a professional. He is an example for young people.”
Napoli have refused Paris Saint-Germain’s bid to sign
Pepe Reina for £4.5m with another £1.8m of bonuses,
according to France Football. The former Liverpool
goalkeeper is 35 and in the final year of his contract.

going.”
Willock leaves United on loan
Matty Willock is heading out on loan this season.

PSG latest
It has been a busy summer window for Paris Saint-
Germain – and today promises to be even busier.
The Qatari-owned club smashed the transfer record
with the £199m purchase of Neymar and are now
finalising a loan deal to bring in Kylian Mbappe from
Monaco – and then pay the £166m from next
summer.
In an attempt to balance the books, PSG now want to
trim the wage bill.
Three players are already close to moves to the
Premier League – Jese Rodriguez (Stoke), Grzegorz
Krychowiak (WBA) and Serge Aurier (Tottenham).
The firesale will continue today with former Newcastle
star Hatem Ben Arfa, German Julian Draxler, Javier
Pastore, Lucas and ex-Manchester United star Angel
Di Maria all available.

Surely it’s just a matter of time before it’s announced
now.
Italian paper round-up
Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport report
Barcelona have been rebuffed by Juventus in their bid
to buy Paulo Dybala.
Both papers claim the failure will see the Catalan
giants return to pursue Philippe Coutinho.
Juventus have signed Schalke defender Benedikt
Howedes – and their transfer business is now
finished, sporting director Beppe Marotta has said.
Inter Milan are still seeking a centre-back with
Arsenal Mustafi and Mangala of Manchester City

Tottenham ahead of Chelsea in race
for Llorente
Tottenham have edged ahead of Chelsea in the race
to sign Fernando Llorente.
Spurs are confident of pipping their London rivals to
sign the Spanish striker from Swansea after making a
dramatic attempt to hijack the deal yesterday.
Target man Llorente, 32, appeared set for Chelsea and
a reunion with his former Juventus boss Antonio
Conte at Stamford Bridge.
But Spurs’ late move could instead see him head to
north London in what would be another transfer
setback for Conte who has also missed out on
Romelu Lukaku and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this
summer.
Llorente joined Swansea last summer and bagged 15
goals in 28 league starts to help the Welsh side stay
up.And he will provide Premier League ready back-up
for star man Harry Kane, something that has been a
priority for boss Mauricio Pochettino this summer.
Swansea are willing to let Llorente go providing they
have a replacement and have lined up former striker
Wilfried Bony for a return from Manchester City.
It is being reported by various outlets that Spurs have
even had a bid for Llorente accepted.

The Premier League's 11 biggest
EVER final day deals
The transfer deadline is just hours away, but will
there be any shock deals taking place like in years
gone by?
Cast your mind back to 2011, when Liverpool and
Chelsea collectively splurged more than £100million
with just hours to go of the January transfer window.
And we can’t forget the summer of 2008, when
Manchester City tried - and failed - to snatch Dimitar
Berbatov away from Manchester United’s claws
before settling for just the one deadline day signing,
Brazilian starlet Robinho , instead.
So far this window, the biggest deal has been Romelu
Lukaku joining Manchester United for £75million. Will
that be beaten today?
Of that we can’t be sure, but while we wait to find
out, let’s take a look at the Premier League’s most
expensive EVER deadline day deals...
Crystal Palace turn to Mangala
Crystal Palace have turned their attention to Eliaquim
Mangala in their desperate bid to land a new central
defender before tonight’s deadline.
Palace made a £23m move for the Manchester City
defender after hitting a wall in their attempts to land
Mamadou Sakho from Liverpool.
Sakho shone on loan at Selhurst Park last season and
Palace saw a £25m move to sign him permanently
rejected.
Liverpool want £30m for the Frenchman, 27, and are
refusing to budge on their fee.City will be more open
to doing a deal for Mangala.
He is one of a few players Pep Guardiola is prepared
to let go along with Wilfried Bony and Fabian Delph.

Lucas Perez in talks with Depor
Lucas Perez is in talks with Deportivo La Coruna about
a return to his former club.
Arsenal are keen to offload the £17m striker who has
been a major flop after struggling to hold down a
place since signing a year ago.
There has been other interest but Perez wants
Deportivo, they know Arsenal want to shift him and
are leaving it late to get the best deal possible.
That is likely to happen after some brinkmanship but
Arsenal are likely to be left with some big earners
who may end up not even being in the 25 man
Premier League squad.
Mathieu Debuchy has been told he can go for free but
he cannot find a club to take over his contract.
Brighton have been offered.
Joel Campbell will be farmed out on loan again as
Arsenal look to set up a deal.
As reported yesterday, Arsenal have failed to agree a
deal with Inter Milan for Shodkran Mustafi which
effectively ends any interest in Jonny Evans.
Arsenal’s huge squad and lack of success in reducing
numbers has left them hamstrung in bringing new
signings in.

Janssen could move to Stoke
Vincent Janssen has not ruled out leaving Tottenham
on deadline day.
Stoke have enquiries about the Dutchman as Spurs
look to sign Swansea centre forward Fernando
Llorente.
Janssen was a £17m signing last summer but has
struggled at Spurs and could now move on. West
Brom had previously looked.
Janssen is quoted in Holland saying: “You’re never
happy with [being a backup], everyone wants to play,
but the situation is so”.
“If I’m staying? I do not want to say too much about
it at the moment. I want to focus on the Netherlands,
The other questions I leave for later.”

Spurs move for Chelsea target
Llorente
Spurs have made a dramatic move to sign Fernando
Llorente - leaving Chelsea facing another transfer
disaster.
Swansea will sanction a £15m move for Llorente as
soon as they complete a deal to return-sign former
striker Wilfried Bony.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte appeared to be in pole
position as he wants Llorente to bolster his squad.
But Tottenham have now come in as they look to
complete some last minute deals and need another
option to back up Harry Kane.
Chelsea have already missed out on Alex Oxlade-
Chamberlain and Romelu Lukaku among others and
missing out again would really test Conte’s patience.
They also want Danny Drinkwater but, according to
sources, are still “miles apart” from Leicester’s
valuation.
