Is John Cena retiring from WWE? That’s the burning
question wrestling fans are looking for answers to.
The 16-time WWE champion put in a valiant effort but
was beaten by Roman Reigns at No Mercy in what
appeared to be a ceremonial passing of the baton.
Several WWE superstars tweeted “#ThankYouCena”
before the 40-year-old grappling legend responded on
social media: “Thank You.”
Cena has fuelled speculation that he could be ready
to retire.
But the likelihood is that he will take a break from the
ring to pursue other acting and presenting projects.

Cena explained that he cannot sustain his current
levels for much longer after 15 years at the top of the
WWE.
When asked by WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King”
Lawler whether he is walking away, Cena said: “No. I
just think my role is different.
Adding to WWE
Network show, Raw Talk, he said: “Regardless of
whether I have outside opportunities or not, I’m 40-
years-old. I have 15 years of track experience here in
the WWE and not at a normal level. At an elite level.
'I don’t know how much longer I can keep it up.
“If I have opportunities outside, great. But even if I
didn’t, I think I’ve got to know when to say when.
“I think I’m not done. But I don’t know if I can keep
going the pace that I’ve been going. That’s a major
thing for me to try to consider.
“This is my family, This is my life. I eat, breathe and
sleep WWE. Whether people like me or don’t, nobody
can argue with that.
“I guess I’ll be like a weird Batman character. When
they shine a light, I’ll come running.”
Cena's immediate retirement is unlikely for now. But
he is almost certainly set to wrestle on more of a
part-time basis.
