Liverpool mayor slates Ronald Koeman as pressure mounts on under-fire Everton boss

The pressure on Everton boss Ronald Koeman shows
no signs of abating following the Toffees' 1-1 draw at
Brighton on Sunday.
That leaves the Toffees just outside the relegation
places as the critics round on the Dutchman, who has
now even seen the mayor of Liverpool turn on him.
Civic leader Joe Anderson is a big Toffees fan and
took to Twitter following the south coast stalemate to
lament a "poor display" by his team.

“Koeman will be judged by results," he posted
following the game which saw Wayne Rooney earn a
late point from the penalty spot.
"This was another poor one & poor performances v
poor side. I ask him have any players improved under
him?”
Everton sit in 16th place in the table, having picked up
just eight points from eight games so far this term,
which is a hugely disappointing return considering the
hefty summer investment in the playing squad.
Anderson, a Labour politician who won a second term
as Liverpool's mayor last summer, is still willing to
give the Dutchman time though.

“Most fans wanted him so think he should be given a
bit more time," he continued on Twitter.
"He is clearly the problem but not sure he can find
solution.”
Following the 1-1 draw Koeman insisted that he was
impressed by the dedication of his players.
“They showed commitment. If there is no
commitment by one player it is my job to bring in
other players, but they work so hard every day to get
it right and it’s difficult.
It’s not easy, the Premier League. You don’t go to
Brighton and get an easy win. You need to fight and
play well.”
