WWE Smackdown results: 7 things you missed overnight as Jinder Mahal targets Brock Lesnar

With Hell In A Cell out of the way for Smackdown, the
blue brand don't have an exclusive pay-per-view
before Survivor Series, and the attention is already
turning to the cross-brand show.
WWE Champion Jinder Mahal laid out a challenge to
Universal Champion Brock Lesnar for Survivor Series,
while Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens continued their
unexpected reunion this week.
Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, AJ Styles, Randy Orton
and Shinsuke Nakamura were also in action on this
week's Smackdown. Here are seven things you
missed overnight...
Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn clash
with Daniel Bryan
Over a week removed from Hell In A Cell, the big
talking point on Smackdown remains Sami Zayn's
shock reunion with former best friend and long-term
bitter enemy Kevin Owens, having helped him defeat
Shane McMahon.
This week, General Manager Daniel Bryan admitted
that he was disappointed in Zayn's action, which
prompted Sami to head to the ring and offer a retort.
Zayn revealed that he felt the WWE universe didn't
take to him in the same way they did with Bryan, as
whilst he kept coming out with a smile on his face
and tried to do the right thing, the fans just weren't
with him – and now he's beyond caring, hence his
reunion with Owens.
PLAY
After Zayn called Bryan 'a housewife' having broken
his body over the years, Owens made his arrival and
insinuated that Bryan has become everything he
fought against; he's now just like The Authority who
held him down for so long, only caring about what's
'best for business', before Zayn called him a 'sellout',
prompting Bryan to head backstage and attempt to
find two men to fight them...
Charlotte Flair forces Lana to submit,
sends Natalya fleeing
After her Smackdown Women's Championship match
ended in a disqualification, Charlotte Flair hasn't given
up her pursuit of the title just yet, and she laid down
another marker on Tuesday night in a six-woman tag
team match.
Teaming up with Becky Lynch and Naomi, Charlotte
forced Lana – who was joined by Natalya and Tamina
– to submit to her Figure Eight Leglock, handing her
team the win, but she wasn't done there. With
Natalya throwing her into a table, Charlotte hit back
with a big boot and chased Natalya off with a chair,
leaving the Smackdown Women's Champion scurrying
through the crowd to escape, as the pair seemingly
gear towards a rematch.
Sin Cara picks up shock win over
Baron Corbin
At Hell In A Cell, Baron Corbin became the new
United States Champion, and successfully defended
his title against AJ Styles on Smackdown last week,
with 'The Lone Wolf' hoping to kickstart a successful
new era, just months after squandering his Money in
the Bank contract.
However, Corbin's reign has already taken a dent,
after he surprisingly lost via count-out to Sin Cara,
leaving Corbin furious after the final bell – and with
that win, Sin Cara may now have put himself in
contention for a shot at the United States
Championship.
Jinder Mahal wants Brock Lesnar
Once again, Jinder Mahal retained his WWE
Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura at Hell In A
Cell, making it two failed attempts for Nakamura –
and Mahal subsequently has his sights set on the very
best WWE has to offer.
Mahal, flanked by The Singh Brothers as usual,
suggested that he still needs more respect, and in
order to attain it, he must take on Universal Champion
Brock Lesnar, given that Survivor Series allows Raw
talent to take on Smackdown superstars.
Having claimed that there is nobody left to beat on
Smackdown, AJ Styles emerged and asked for a WWE
Championship match, which Mahal promptly shot
down, but having taken out The Singh Brothers and
then Mahal with a flurry of offense, Styles may well
be positioning himself to be next in line for a shot at
the WWE Championship after Mahal's bout with
Lesnar.
Dolph Ziggler gets a win back over
Bobby Roode
Weeks of back-and-forth between Dolph Ziggler and
Bobby Roode culminated in a match at Hell In A Cell,
which Roode won with a roll-up pin, but given that he
had a handful of Ziggler's tights in the process, his
win was...less than honest.
This week, the pair had a rematch, and Ziggler – after
again using a no-music, no-frills entrance – got his
revenge with a win of his own, scoring a victory in the
exact same way as Roode did, rolling him up for the
pin whilst yanking his trunks. Surely, at some point,
one of these men will have to claim an honest win...
Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin
confront The Usos backstage as
Breezango continue their
investigations
The Usos, having reclaimed their Smackdown Tag
Team Championships from The New Day at Hell In A
Cell, are unsurprisingly buoyant right now, and again
celebrated having the division 'on lock' during a
backstage interview with Renee Young.
That did though prompt their next challengers – Chad
Gable and Shelton Benjamin – to emerge and claim
that they will be the next Smackdown Tag Team
Champions, but will respect The Usos until then...only
to offer the pair a handshake and walk away when
The Usos motioned to reciprocate.
Elsewhere in the Smackdown Tag Team Division,
Breezango – with some 'help' from The Ascension –
are back on the case of who has been leaving them
mysterious messages in recent weeks, and having
noticed that a briefcase has been stolen from their
office, Tyler Breeze and Fandango, donning full Pulp
Fiction attire this week, are again attempting to crack
the case.
Owens and Zayn team up to beat
Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura
Daniel Bryan did end up finding two men to take on
Owens and Zayn, with Randy Orton and Shinsuke
Nakamura again teaming up in a strange partnership,
as Bryan wanted two of Smackdown's best to teach
Owens and Zayn a lesson.
However, Bryan's plan somewhat backfired, as after
Owens distracted referee Charles Robinson, Zayn hit a
previously uncharacteristic low blow on Orton, giving
him the opportunity to score the victory with a
Helluva Kick and subsequent pin.
The pair celebrated wildly backstage, goading Bryan
whilst asking what their next challenge will be, only
for Bryan to reveal that Shane McMahon – the man
Owens and Zayn effectively beat at Hell In A Cell –
will decide that next week, but Owens and Zayn were
only interested in hugging each other and proclaiming
that they are best friends – again.
