WWE Survivor Series showdown between Brock Lesnar and Jinder Mahal to have shock special guest referee

WWE is gearing up for a champion versus champion
clash pitting Brock Lesnar against Jinder Mahal at
Survivor Series.
The stars of Raw and SmackDown will collide at the
pay-per-view at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas
on Sunday, November 19.
The match pitting Kurt Angle and four of his best
stars against Shane McMahon and four of his roster
immediately catches the eye.
PROMOTED STORIES
And the bout between SmackDown tag team title
holders The Usos and Raw tag team kings The Shield
could be an absolute cracker.
But it's no secret that a lot of fans aren't entirely
overjoyed by the prospect of Lesnar and Mahal going
at it in singles competition.
There's no doubting the former UFC Champion and
German suplex machine Brock is a deserving Raw
Universal Champion.
However, ex-Three Man Band member Mahal has so
far failed to convince that he should hold the
company's most prestigious belt.
Repeated victories over Randy Orton and Shinsuke
Nakamura are yet to dispel the belief he is a
transitional WWE Champion.
Even Lesnar's manager Paul Heyman has bluntly
described Jinder as a pretender and a "consolation
prize champion".
WWE management clearly recognise this issue and
have reportedly decided to bolster the match-up
between the two title holders.
After rumours that The Rock or 'Stone Cold' Steve
Austin were being considered as special guest
referees, a third name has prevailed.
According to pwinsider.com, that man will be none
other than a 16-time world champion - the recently
departed John Cena.
Cena was last seen when he appeared to say an
emotional farewell to fans, after narrowly losing to
Roman Reigns at No Mercy .
While he is determined to establish a successful
Hollywood career, the 40-year-old will always answer
when WWE come knocking.
Some observers believe Lesnar will give Mahal a
beating until Jinder asks his minions the Singh
Brothers for help and gets disqualified.
Cena's inclusion in the match as the referee having to
make that call could allow for a scenario where Mahal
blames John for his loss.
It's speculated this will kick-off a feud between the
pair that may see Cena win his record-breaking 17th
world title from Mahal at WrestleMania.
That would be a blow to those who hope AJ Styles
will dethrone Mahal and defend the title against
Shinsuke Nakamura at Mania in a dream match.
But in the meantime the battle between The Beast
Incarnate and The Modern Day Maharaja may have
just got a lot more interesting.
